Anchored Triple Prediction / The Third Eye

‘Anchored Triple Prediction’ is a triple billet test, predicting which coin (of three), the date on the coin and whether they flip the coin heads or tails. Combining several standard methods, this version features a disarming aspect: the three predictions are clearly tabled in a set order from the start (hence ‘anchored’).  Two versions, one requiring a few seconds of preparation and the other 100% impromptu are explained.

‘The Third Eye’ is a dual mind-reading effect where the spectator reads what is on your folded billet (reasonable probability of success, with presentational outs explained) and you read their folded billet (100% success each time).  This effect and method are 100% impromptu; just needs two squares of thin card and a pen.

Highlights 2 is a set of lecture notes accompanying Justin Higham’s lecture at the Zodiac Magical Society in October 2021. The effects explained share a common theme: the spectator either shuffles the deck before or during the course of each effect and/or they name a card, which is revealed from a previously shuffled deck. Both these features add elements of impossibility to what would otherwise be standard effects. While far from a new concept, when you present several such effects together using a different form of the concept each time, it has a cumulative effect of completely bewildering magicians and lay people alike.

Reflections by Justin Higham

Imagine having a spectator select or just peek at a card and instantly knowing its identity, without gimmicks or peeks. This is what the world of impromptu reflectors is all about.

The two videos supplied with this download reveal a world hidden in plain sight. If you think you know how to use impromptu reflectors: you don’t! The proof of that statement is that almost no one uses this concept. In the past decade I have met only one – just one – magician who uses this concept (in one, very specific way).

Some of the methods explained use objects and techniques not normally associated with this concept. They do not include the old black-coffee reflector (difficult to  use at the best of times) and they have nothing to do with shiners hidden in the hand or under tables.

I have fooled top-flight card magicians seven or more times in a row with the same reflector and same method (breaking all the rules of magic about ‘never repeat your trick’) and they have continually asked for the secret ever since. In short, this is the number one best, ever concept I have used in card magic other than the concept of improvisation itself.

Running time (both videos together): 30 mins.

Highlights is a set of lecture notes accompanying Justin Higham’s lecture in Cork, Ireland in March 2015.

The e-book contains an assortment of sleights and effects, including false cuts and shuffles, poker deals, mental effects and miscellaneous effects and ideas.

Included are ‘Spread-Count Poker 6’, the most direct solution yet to stacking 5 cards via spread counts, a Shank-Shuffle convincer, a card stab based on a bold illogicality, an Ambitious Card with no Double Lifts, a think-a-card lie detector performed over an internet phone call, and two Ace Assemblies which avoid the usual addition moves.

Apart from two or three items including the False-Count False Shuffle (Bold and Illogical Card Moves) and Mindreader’s Lucid Dream (Clairvoyant / 75% Production), none of these items has seen print before. (Those which have been published before contain additional information anyway.)

32 pages equivalent in size to A4 with over 60 clear black-and-white photos. Sent as an e-book via email (non-automated – please be patient – orders usually fulfilled within a few hours).
